⚙️ SAE 1006 Ø5.5 mm wire rod - a grade for deep drawing
5.5 mm SAE 1006 wire rod is hot-rolled steel in coils to ГОСТ 30136-95, with a carbon content no greater than 0.08%. It is the softest and most ductile product in our range, designed for multi-stage drawing when fine wire must be produced from 5.5 mm feedstock with minimal pauses for intermediate annealing.
🏗️ Main applications
- Deep drawing: fine general-purpose and specialised wire produced through multiple drawing passes.
- Wire manufacturing: tie wire, packaging wire, and wire for printing applications with consistent quality.
- Cold-heading fasteners: feedstock where low carbon helps prevent cracking during deformation.
- Welded mesh: mesh with any spacing made from uniform, ductile rod.
✅ Advantages of SteelStream products
We supply wire rod to ГОСТ 30136-95. A complete table of masses for 5.5–14 mm, grades, and applications is available in the technical documentation.
- Export-grade quality: this grade is rolled for international contracts, with composition consistency confirmed by a heat certificate.
- Kilometres without joints: a 1–1.5 t coil provides 5.3–8 km for continuous drawing without risky welded joints in the feedstock.
- Accurate weight: each coil is weighed during loading.
